The Reasons Why

Are You Content?

  • Contentment, or the state of being content, is about peaceful satisfaction

  •  It involves appreciating what you have and where you are in life, rather than wishing things were different. ... That's because contentment celebrates the good in your life while simultaneously working through the bad

Why a Morning Routine is Important

  • Even if you don't typically thrive on a structured schedule, having a routine in the morning can be helpful in times of unpredictability, uncertainty, and stress

  • Implementing a structure to your day can give you a sense of predictability

  •  It can also improve your focus, organization, and productivity

How to Set Healthy Boundaries

  • Setting boundaries is an important part of is a crucial aspect of a person's mental health and well-being

  • Boundaries can be physical or emotional

  •  They can range from being loose to rigid, with healthy boundaries often falling somewhere in between

  • It is important for you to decide what are healthy boundaries for you that support a work life balance

Reflection

  • Take ten minutes at the end of your day to think about what went well. What was a challenge? How could I have handled something differently? Did I acknowledge the efforts of others and how did I support the team?

  • What did you learn today?

  • What could I work on in my daily practice?

  • What do you need?

  • Tomorrow is another opportunity

Managing Stress

  • We all experience stress in our lives,

  • Whether this is in the short term, or long-term stress from a high-pressure career situation

  • Not only can this be profoundly unpleasant, but it can also seriously affect our health and our work

  •  However, it is possible to manage stress

  • The first step in managing stress is to understand where these feeling are coming from

Ways of Becoming a Lifelong Learner

  • Accept responsibility for your own learning...

  • Create your own learning toolbox...

  • Try new things on a regular basis...

  • Keep a “to-learn” list and set goals...

  • Ask questions when you're confused...

  • Put it into practice...

  • Choose a career that encourages learning...

  • Have projects and hobbies

I have been an Early Childhood Educator for 20 years, having received my Diploma in Early Childhood Education from Douglas College. Since then, I have gained experience in a variety of areas within the field of Early Childhood Education: Director of a preschool, supervisor of after-school care as well as 3-5 and Infant Toddler programs and centre management. My primary focus has evolved to encompass team leadership, management training and program development. I have had articles published in provincial and national ECE journals on the topic of emergent curriculum and leadership. My goal as an Early Childhood Educator and facilitator is to support fellow educators and early years professionals in providing high-quality early learning experiences for children and families.

Management and leadership courses offered by an Early Childhood Educator truly is a gift in this line of work. Julie Hansen’s insight and understanding of childcare and early learning dynamics developed my skills and confidence as a manager. Her ideas are innovative, thoughtful and easy to implement for myself and my team. I enjoyed my one to one coaching calls, team workshops and leadership series I have taken with Julie. Julie has so much knowledge of all of the areas of Early Childhood Education and quality early learning experiences. I always walk away with something new and many ideas to take back to my own programs after attending a workshop with Julie . I've also done a consultation with Julie regarding recruiting ECE's and she had so much advice to offer. Thanks to Julie's advice, I was able to hire not one but TWO Educators for my center.
